GENIEUR will significantly accelerate the establishment of a pan-European interdisciplinary network with the major goal to study genetic factors in the etiology of IBS. As a prerequisite, it will create unified guidelines for patient / control recruitment as well as phenotypic characterization. In turn, these represent an important step towards the standardization and harmonization of strategies for genetic research in IBS not only in Europe. Furthermore, it will strongly influence IBS research worldwide and lift it to a higher level. The topics and activities of this Action will be widely and effectively distributed in order to reach target groups.

Our target groups are the following:
  • Clinicians involved in the diagnosis and treatment of IBS
  • Basic scientists
  • Early stage scientists
  • IBS patients and their families
  • The general public
